Postdoc in China
In order to attract outstanding young talents to Wuhan University to carry out research work, support and cultivate young talents with development and innovation potential to pursue academic excellence and climb the peak of science and technology, the university has specially established the “Hongyi Postdoctoral Fellow” program. Now we have started the application and selection work for the 2025 Wuhan University “Hongyi Postdoctoral Fellow” program. We sincerely welcome young talents who are devoted to academics and have the courage to explore to apply.
1. Support Period
The support period is generally two years. If you achieve outstanding results during your stay, you can apply to extend it to three years.
2. Salary and Benefits
1. The selected candidates will receive an annual salary of RMB 300,000 (before tax). The unit where the candidate is employed and the cooperating supervisor may provide additional funding based on the candidate’s comprehensive situation. In addition, the candidate may receive funding from various national postdoctoral programs, Hubei Province, and Wuhan City.
2. Benefits: Provide provident fund, pension insurance, occupational annuity, priority to postdoctoral apartments or housing subsidies, and enjoy children’s kindergarten and school admission, medical care and other benefits.
3. Career development channel: According to the relevant regulations of the school, you can apply for the qualification of deputy senior positions during your stay. If you meet the school’s talent introduction policy and the conditions for leaving the station, you can apply for a teaching position in the school.
III. Application conditions
1. Have good ideological and political quality and professional ethics, correct teaching ethics, rigorous scientific attitude, love the job and be dedicated, and be in good health.
2. Applicants should be under 35 years old, with good academic background and strong academic potential.
3. It should be no more than three years since the doctoral degree was obtained (based on the application deadline of each batch), or the basic requirements for doctoral dissertation defense have been met at the time of application.
4. A research team or research group has been preliminarily selected, and a preliminary research plan has been formed in consultation with the team or research group leader.
Other notes:
1. Postdoctoral fellows already in Wuhan University, whose contract expiration date is within 6 months of the deadline for submitting individual materials for each batch of applications, can apply for the corresponding batch of selection.
2. Applicants who have been selected for the National Postdoctoral Innovative Talent Support Program (National Postdoctoral Researcher Program Category A) can be directly selected for the Wuhan University “Hongyi Postdoctoral” Program upon recommendation by their respective institutions.
IV. Selection Procedure
Applicants submit application materials to the unit. Each unit will select and recommend applicants based on their ideological and political quality, educational background, academic level, scientific research ability, the innovativeness of the proposed research content and the role in promoting their disciplines. The Human Resources Department will organize experts to conduct an evaluation and report to the school for approval. The final list of candidates will be determined after the approval results are made public and no objections are raised.
V. Application Materials
1. Application for Wuhan University’s Hongyi Postdoctoral Fellowship Program;
2. Supporting documents:
(1) Identity documents: valid ID card (foreigners should provide passport); doctoral degree certificate, graduation certificate (fresh doctoral graduates should provide proof of meeting doctoral graduation requirements; those who obtained academic qualifications and degrees abroad should provide the “Certificate of Foreign Academic Qualifications and Degrees” issued by the Overseas Study Service Center of the Ministry of Education);
(2) Academic and scientific research achievement materials: papers, monographs, patents or awards, scientific research projects undertaken, etc. that represent the applicant’s academic and scientific research level. Among them, the full text of the paper (if unpublished, a certificate of acceptance of the paper) and the certificate of inclusion in the index search should be provided; the cover, table of contents and abstract of the monograph should be provided; the patent or award certificate should be provided; and the scientific research projects undertaken should provide relevant supporting materials.
(3) Three letters of recommendation from experts, including one from your doctoral supervisor (there is no limit on the recommender for in-station postdoctoral fellows).
The electronic version of the above application materials should be scanned into a PDF file (file size not exceeding 50M) and sent to the contact email address of the applicant unit. Incomplete application materials will not be accepted.

Individual application submission deadline: before April 30, 2025

3. The third batch of applications and selection
Individual application submission time: before August 15, 2025
Time for units to submit materials: before August 31, 2025

4. The fourth batch of applications and selection
Individual application submission deadline: before September 30, 2025
Time for units to submit materials: before October 31, 2025

VII. Relevant Explanations
1. Applicants who fail to submit their doctoral degree certificates at the time of application will be required to check their degree certificates when they come to the school to handle the formalities. If they do not obtain a doctoral degree certificate, their eligibility for selection will be cancelled.
2. Applicants can only submit application materials for the same batch of Hongyi Postdoctoral Fellows through one institution per batch. Applicants who submit application materials for the same batch through two or more institutions at the same time will have their applications invalidated.
3. The school will issue a notification letter for the selected candidates of Wuhan University’s “Hongyi Postdoctoral Fellowship” program. The selected candidates must submit the application materials for the postdoctoral program at the school according to the requirements of the notification letter, and go through the postdoctoral program admission procedures after the approval procedures are completed.
